Curated Content: Get Smarter about the Underlying Tech to DAMS and CMS
A DAM/CMS requires a lot of extra I.T. things that aren't often taught to digital asset managers, archivists, catalogers, or curators. Here’s one of them: Most systems cloud-based meaning there's no physical server/hardware for us to manage. Two common cloud structures are an SSL certificate (this is the HTTPS you see in a website vs a HTTP link) and the data storage warehouse, AWS (Amazon Web Services).
Curated Content: Writing Accolades
Not all data professions or career paths require/need publications. But sometimes it’s nice to have a creative outlet. Here are two places to look for funding and inspiration.
Autumn House Press
Autumn House Press publishes 7-8 books of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction each year & accept manuscripts for their annual fiction, nonfiction, and poetry prizes where winners (1) get their manuscript published, (2) a $1,000 USD honorarium, (3) and a $1,500 USD travel/publicity grant to promote the book. Under “A Note on Publishing with Autumn House” they seem to list really got benefits like nominating their books for prizes and advertising in prestigious journals.
Submissions are due in annually spring depending on writing type (e.g. fiction, poetry).
